A Georgia seed company’s license to do business in Mississippi has been suspended.
The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce said Johnston Seed Company Inc. of Ashburn violated the state’s Pure Seed Law. The company failed to comply with stop-sale orders for seed not in compliance with the law, according to the Mississippi Business Journal.
Johnston Seed must pay $15,000 and is prevented from doing business in the state from July 1 until Dec. 31. During a two-year probation, the company must also submit seed for testing by a state lab before delivery.
