Microsoft Corp. plans to herald the rollout of its newest tablets Oct. 21 with a late-night competition at Lenox Square mall and nine other locations around the country.
The company is unveiling its new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets at the Lenox store event. The Surface Challenge will then spill over into the formal launch Oct. 22 of the new tablets. It’s the same day that Apple is expected to introduce its newest iPad tablets.
Starting at 10 p.m. Oct. 21, the Surface Challenge will feature interactive and “sometimes physical” games, the company said. Participants will have a chance to win a trip the next morning to a Pitbull concert at the Mall at Millenia in Orlando.
Microsoft said dozens of other prizes will be up for grabs at Lenox, and participants will have a chance to check out the new tablets before they go on sale. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance at the Microsoft Store Facebook page.
According to a blog report by AllThingsD, Apple will introduce a thinner and lighter iPad and an iPad mini that will have a screen with higher resolution and pixel density for sharper images.
