Metro execs among Southeast’s top entrepreneurs

Executives at three Atlanta companies and one in Columbus made this year’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year list for the Southeast, the company said.

The Georgians took awards in “deal of the year,” technology, leadership, and retail and consumer products.

The awards recognize entrepreneurs “who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities,” Ernst & Young said.

David Cummings, chief executive officer of Atlanta Tech Village/Kevy, a provider of marketing automation software, won for "deal of the year." He is the former CEO of Atlanta-based Pardot, which was sold last year to ExactTarget, an Indiana digital marketing company, for nearly $100 million. Earlier this week Salesforce.com said it will spend more than $2.3 billion to acquire ExactTarget.

John Marshall, founder and chief executive officer of Atlanta-based AirWatch, which provides content management solutions for mobile device technology, received an award for technology.

David Scheible, president and CEO of Atlanta-based packaging company Graphic Packaging International Inc., received an award in the retail and consumer products category.

S. David Passman III, CEO of the Columbus-based theater chain Carmike Cinemas, Inc., received an award for leadership.
