MagMutual acquires S.C. malpractice insurer

MagMutual Insurance Co., an Atlanta-based provider of medical malpractice insurance, said it has acquired South Carolina Physician Assurance Co. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SCPA provides physicians liability insurance and is owned by the South Carolina Medical Association, which is owned by physicians.

In addition to Georgia, MagMutual provides malpractice insurance in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
