Michael Traub has been tapped to lead Serta Simmons Bedding, replacing longtime Chief Executive Officer Gary Fazio, who is retiring.

Traub, president of National Bedding Company, will takeover as the company’s CEO Jan. 1, 2016. In the interim, Traub has been named president of the company, effective immediately.

Serta Simmons is the maker of bedding brands including Serta, Perfect Sleeper, iComfort and Sertapedic.

“Together with the Board, I am confident in Michael’s ability to take the helm of the company at the start of next year,” Fazio said in a statement. “He is a skilled executive who has demonstrated his leadership and operational capabilities across a range of functions andhis consumer product expertise will be an asset to the company.”

Fazio, who has been in the bedding indusry for more than 40 years, will retire at the end of the year.
