A 20-year-old college sophomore from Roswell might have a lot more to learn about money after winning $250,000 in the Georgia lottery.

Ryan Barrett matched the first five numbers from the Nov. 6 Mega Millions drawing, winning a $250,000 prize.

Barrett, a sophomore studying computer science at Georgia Perimeter College, claimed his prize recently at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.

He’ll use his winnings to support his education, Barrett said.

“This will be savings for college,” he said. “I may spend extra on Christmas presents.”

Exxon Food Mart, 4780 Alabama Road N.E. in Roswell, sold the winning Quik Pik ticket.

Barrett said he discovered he’d won while checking the results on the Georgia Lottery’s website.

Winning numbers from the Nov. 6 Mega Millions drawing were: 3-5-13-32-35 and the Mega Ball was 6.

“I’m pretty excited,” Barrett said.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot drawing is at an estimated $33 million to a single annuity winner. Tickets are $1 per play.

Meanwhile, the drawing for the next Powerball jackpot — now estimated at a staggering $250 million — will be Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. The Powerball game is played in 42 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Powerball numbers are drawn live Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Tickets cost $2 per play.
