The Four Seasons Atlanta and the Lodge at Sea Island took top honors as Georgia’s best hotels in 2014, according to Forbes and AAA.

Forbes gave both five stars, its highest honor, while also bestowing the designation on the Cloister at Sea Island.

AAA designated Four Seasons and the Lodge with its top five-diamond award. Other five-diamond award winners were the InterContinental Buckhead, the St. Regis Atlanta, and Ritz-Carlton locations in downtown Atlanta, Buckhead and Greensboro at Reynolds Plantation.

Notching a spot at the top of either list is coveted by the hospitality community because it brings prestige and allows the properties to command top dollar for rooms, often starting at $500 a night.

That’s especially important in metro Atlanta, which has an overabundant supply of hotel rooms and has seen hotel construction slow over the past five years.

The Georgian Room at the Lodge was the only restaurant in the state to receive five stars (none received five diamonds from AAA). The spa at Sea Island received five stars from Forbes.

Here is a list of other winners.
