Atlanta-based credit and information company Equifax said Wednesday it will add online personal information monitoring services as part of its credit monitoring and management products.
Equifax will offer services from California-based Reputation.com at no additional charge as part of its monthly subscription-based credit monitoring and identity theft prevention services.
All tiers of monitoring will permit customers to conduct a scan the web and find sites that have aggregated information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, date of birth, email contacts and other data. Higher-priced tiers will have the ability to request removal of that information.
Trey Loughran, president of Equifax Personal Solutions, said consumers can get unwanted solicitations from such readily available information. They also can be vulnerable to identity theft, even when scammers have information some might deem less sensitive than a Social Security number.
“Identity is now becoming a much broader picture and it’s much easier to access,” he said.
