Workplace safety is an increasing concern for those fortunate to have a job. Of the active shooter incidents that occurred between 2000 and 2013 in the U.S., 73 percent took place at areas of business, according to an FBI study.
To that end, seven active-shooter seminars are being planned by the Cobb County Police Department and Sheriff's Office in March through September.
The Cobb County Police Department is co-hosting four active-shooter seminars in March and April with the Cobb County School District Police and the Cobb County District Attorney's Office.
General "active-shooter" topics will include what to expect, best practices, what happens when law enforcement arrives and weapons-carry license laws — all sought-after topics by those seeking to ensure workplace safety.
Here is the Cobb Police schedule:
• March 29, 7 - 9 p.m. | Pebblebrook High School Theater, 991 Old Alabama Road SW, Mableton, 30126
