More than a thousand customers in Gwinnett County temporarily lost electrical power Tuesday morning when a delivery truck struck a power pole, the utility company serving the area said.
“We had a Fed Ex truck hit a power pole,” said Bonnie Jones, spokeswoman for Jackson EMC, which serves about 200,000 customers in Gwinnett and nine other counties northeast of Atlanta. She said she did not know if the 10 a.m. crash was related to the winter weather.
She said about 1,300 customers lost power for 11 minutes after the crash. The company expected to restore power within an hour to 129 customers who were still without power at about 11:30 a.m.
