Cousins breaks ground on Austin skyscraper

May 23, 2013

Atlanta-based Cousins Properties said on Thursday it has broken ground on a new office tower in Austin, Tex.

The real estate investment company said the 29-story skyscraper, known as Colorado Tower, will be “substantially complete” by the end of 2014.

The ground breaking comes on the heels of a $102.4 million deal last month to acquire another tower in Austin.

Earlier this year, Cousins acquired a Houston office tower and completed a complex transaction involving the Terminus 100 and 200 buildings that Cousins developed in Atlanta’s Buckhead office market. That deal resulted in Cousins holding 50 percent interests in both skyscrapers.
