"Advancing the Possibilities: Oncology Nurses – Champions of Excellence," the fifth annual oncology nursing symposium, will be at Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort at Stone Mountain Park. This year's symposium, presented by Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, will offer the opportunity to learn from nationally recognized oncology leaders, Dr. Mary M. Gullatte, president of the Oncology Nursing Society, and Dr. Otis W. Brawley, medical director of the American Cancer Society. The course offers 9.0 contact hours through Emory Healthcare. Registration is $155 before Feb. 25, $205 thereafter, and $55 for full-time nursing students. The event includes dinner on Friday and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. A CNOR certification prep course will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Eastside Medical Center (1700 Medical Way in Snellville). The course, which will be in Classrooms 3 and 4 in Suite 270 of the facility's 1800 Building, offers 13.1 contact hours. The Emory diabetes educator certificate course at Grady will be held at the Emory Faculty Office Building (49 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive in Atlanta). This seminar is open to nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers and others interested in the management and education of people with diabetes. Professionals preparing to take the certified diabetes educator exam should find the course helpful. Attendees must have a degree or diploma in a health profession. The course is also open to students preparing to take a licensure examination. The cost, which includes materials, is $375.
