From fitness centers and retail developments to a taco shop and even a craft distillery, new businesses are popping up in a city near you in Gwinnett County. Here's a sampling of what's in store.
Dacula
Assuming weather no longer delays construction, a two-building retail space, to be known as The Shoppes of Dacula, will open by the end of October at 635 Dacula Road. The 9,600-square-foot center has rented space to a dental office with room for at least four additional tenants.
Duluth
Nextran Corp. will break ground Oct. 7 on its 15th trucking facility at 1735 Breckinridge Plaza in Duluth. The company, which operates full-service medium- and heavy-duty truck centers in the Southeast, will add 80 new jobs with the facility.
Lifeline Primary Care will hold a ribbon cutting Oct. 23 for its new location at 4855 River Green Parkway, Suite 700, in Duluth. This is the fourth location for the multilingual health care provider of health screenings, sport physicals, lab work, minor surgical procedures, weight management and more.
Lilburn
Hope Springs Distillery will open soon at 4839 Railroad Ave., in the heart of downtown Lilburn. Hope Springs will be a craft distillery using only agricultural products grown in Georgia. It will be the only distillery in Gwinnett.
Norcross
Tapout Fitness opened Oct. 1 at 5770 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Suite 101, in Norcross. Tapout Fitness is a 24-hour full-service gym with tanning, cardio boxing and cardio kickboxing classes, nutritional supplements and diet planning. The gym boasts 6,000 square feet of free weights, cardio equipment and resistance machines.
Snellville
Two new retail tenants have signed leases at The Shoppes at Webb Gin. Orangetheory Fitness has just opened on the north side of the center. Orangetheory combines intervals of cardio and strength training in group classes by certified personal trainers. In addition, Fuzzy's Taco Shop will open its first location in late October next door to Pure Barre on the south side of the center. Fuzzy's Taco Shop, founded in Forth Worth, Texas, serves Baja-style tacos topped with feta cheese and Fuzzy's signature hot sauce.
Planet Fitness opens Oct. 5 at 2420 Wisteria Drive in Snellville. Planet Fitness focuses on occasional or first-time gym users rather than hard-core fitness fanatics. All Planet Fitness clubs feature a wide selection of brand-name cardio and strength equipment, and the centers provide unlimited fitness instruction with all memberships.
Gander Mountain Co. opened Oct. 1 in the Snellville Exchange at 1200 Scenic Highway. The 55,000-square-foot store will feature one of the largest selections of new and used firearms in Georgia, along with a wide selection of gear and accessories for hunting, fishing, camping, boating and archery. The store also carries men's and women's outdoor and casual apparel, as well as active footwear.
Sugar Hill
The recently renovated Sugar Hill Corner shopping center at 5885 Cumming Highway, home to the local Publix, will see the reopening in early October of Red Bandanna, a pet food and accessories retailer.
ALS Auto Sales at 1195 Buford Highway is ready to open soon with auto sales and maintenance.
Sugar Hill Station on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard has a new MetroFlex gym in this shopping center known for its Big Lots. MetroFlex is considered a hard core training center for bodybuilders, powerlifters and martial artists. In addition, Trianna's Cache, a women's fashion retailer will open by mid-October. The store specializes in shapewear and hair extensions.
Zaxby's also will join Sugar Hill by the end of October with a new location at 5982 Cumming Highway. This will be the second Sugar Hill location for the made-to-order chicken restaurant headquartered in Athens.
