Metro Atlanta homeowners and others across the state who are looking for relief on burdensome mortgages or new home loans may find the answer at one of the final Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America events in Atlanta Friday through Tuesday.
The NACA, a mortgage counseling group, has been holding its “American Dream” events free of charge around the country for homeowners and homebuyers who can negotiate new terms for existing loans and get approved for new mortgages, respectively.
Locally, the event is at Americas Mart Building 3, 250 Spring St. NW in downtown Atlanta, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
NACA says participants can meet face to face with their lender along with an NACA representative to have current interest rates or loan principal reduced, potentially reducing monthly payments and saving the homeowner thousands of dollars over the life of the loan.
Representatives from all the major lenders will be present, according to Bruce Marks, chief executive officer of NACA, which says it has helped more than 250,000 homeowners nationwide.
NACA also said its group will be offering loans for homebuyers who qualify, with no down payment, no closing costs, no points or fees and below-market interests.
