Atlanta housing prices slipped last month, but were still up a solid 7 percent from August of a year ago, according to a report just released by RE/MAX of Georgia.

The report from the real estate company reaffirmed the Atlanta market’s trend lines:

— People who have homes for sale can generally sell them.

— It’s a sellers’ market, with sellers often getting their asking price and sometimes even more.

— The number of sales has stayed steady, even though the seasonal peak of the market has passed.

— The inventory, that is, the number of homes for sale, continues to lag (which is what puts buyers at a disadvantage).

The median price of a home sold in the metro region was $228,250, down from $235,000 the month before, RE/MAX reported.

Despite that dip, the longer-term arc of prices remained intact: a year ago, the median price of homes was $213,500.
