Roast beef giant Arby’s has named its first chief information officer, the company said Wednesday.
Darla Morse, who led the technology teams at SeaWorld parks and corporate headquarters, will take the CIO project April 18 and report to Arby’s CEO Paul Brown.
“Given the rapid evolution and increasingly important role of technology in our industry, I am looking forward to the expertise that Darla brings to our team,” Brown said in a statement. “She will guide the Brand’s technology initiatives going forward with the objective of continuing to enhance the restaurant experience for our guests while driving operational efficiencies for our franchisees.”
The newly created position comes as companies across the nation are investing more resources in technology after a string of online security breaches. The hacks have hit national retailers such as Atlanta-based Home Depot, Target, TJX (owner of Marshalls and T.J .Maxxx) and restaurant chains from Chick-fil-A to ZaMxby;s.
Arby’s said Morse has more than 22 years of technology experience, including previous positions in a variety of roles for Walt Disney World.
