Antone’s, one of Austin’s most iconic live music venues, is on the market.

“We don’t have anyone on the hook right now,” Antone’s owner Frank Hendrix said on Tuesday. “We’re just letting it be known we’re looking to make a deal.”

Antone’s is operated by Some Entertainment Inc., a company created by Hendrix in 2006, according to public records with the Texas Secretary of State’s office. Some Entertainment is also listed as the club’s property owner by the Travis Central Appraisal District.

While he considers a sale, it will be business as usual at blues-focused Antone’s for the foreseeable future, Hendrix said. He said all upcoming performances are set to go on as scheduled, including a show by O Conqueror this Saturday night.

If the venue does sell, it would be up to the new owners to determine the club’s direction going forward, Hendrix said.

A longtime fixture in downtown Austin, Antone’s moved from West Fifth Street to 2015 E. Riverside Drive this year. It has also operated from locations on East Sixth Street, Anderson Lane and Guadalupe Street. The club is named for its former owner, the late Clifford Antone, who died in 2006.

In its new location, Antone’s sits next door to Emo’s, another nightclub that was previously located downtown. A significant amount of new construction – residential and commercial – is under way within walking distance, and a proposed urban rail line might one day run in front of the music venue.

During its nearly 40-year run, Antone’s has hosted scores of well-known musicians, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Dwight Yoakam, Pinetop Perkins, Muddy Waters and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, among others.
