The cost of renting an apartment in Atlanta is still on the rise...mostly.
Eight of the 11 metro cities were at or above the state median rent of $915.
Renting a one bedroom apartment in Atlanta will cost you well over the state median at $1,350 per month. John's Creek and Alpharetta had the next highest rents in the metro area at $1,210 and $1,200 respectively.
Gainesville, Norcross and Marietta all came in with one bedroom rents below the state median with Gainesville having the lowest rent for one bedrooms of all the metro cities surveyed.
In addition to measuring the cost of renting, the survey looked how quickly rents are growing in 11 metro cities.
Almost all areas saw a year over year rise in rents with Roswell, Dunwoody and Marietta topping the list with double-digit increases in the rents of one bedroom apartments. Only Sandy Springs had a double-digit decrease in rent for one bedrooms.
The picture looks a little different when you are looking at two bedroom apartments. Dunwoody, Roswell, Newnan and Norcross each had double-digit increases in rents year over year. While Johns Creek, Sandy Springs, Smyrna and Gainesville each saw rents for two bedroom apartments decline during the time period.
Still of all the declining rents, Sandy Springs was the largest at 15 percent decrease compared to just a slight decrease in the rent of a two bedroom in Johns Creek of 0.7 percent.
