New York Fashion Week ends Sept. 14, but in metro Atlanta the fall fashion events are heating up. This month, fashion fans have the chance to catch a range of runway shows and shopping events around town including several events that double as fundraisers for local charities. Here are some of the fashion events that are taking place in September.

NOON TO NIGHT: FALL FASHION BENEFIT AT AVALON

The fourth annual benefit for Bert’s Big Adventure features Bert’s Big Adventure children hitting the runway with celebrity models in a range of day to evening appropriate fall fashions from the retailers at Avalon. Bert’s Big Adventure, founded in 2002 by radio host Bert Weiss, is a nonprofit which provides all-expense paid trips to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses. The organization also provides year-round support to families. The day before the event, the youth models are pampered with hair and make-up styling, entertainment and more. Last year the event raised $50,000 for the organization. It begins with a cocktail reception and bites from Avalon’s restaurants followed by an auction. The fashion show begins at 8 p.m. and is followed by an evening of dancing with a live DJ and craft cocktails.

Noon To Night: Fall Fashion Benefit at Avalon, $50 - $150. 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 13. Avalon Boulevard, 400 Avalon Boulevard, Alpharetta. 770-765-1000. experienceavalon.com
