It was a long time coming but a sequel to the successful, very funny, very gory 2009 “Zombieland” is finally coming to life early next year.

The four key actors - Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin - are all returning to Georgia for "Zombieland 2." The director (Ruben Fleischer) and the writers (Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese) are back, too.

Here’s the early descriptive: “Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the Zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.”

It’s set to be released in October, 2019 for the 10th anniversary of the original film’s debut, which was shot in Covington, Atlanta and Valdosta.

"Zombieland" was a sleeper hit, bringing in $102 million in worldwide gross and another $56 million in DVD sales. With a $24 million budget, it was also profitable for Sony Pictures and preceded the arrival of "The Walking Dead" shot in Atlanta a year later.
