Two well-known musicians from the 1990s were cut down early tonight on "Dancing With the Stars": Vanilla Ice and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. They were the third and fourth dancers to be cut this season.
Vanilla Ice, who has shown plenty of great dance moves in the past, clearly had some skills but didn't get the votes this week. He had passable scores of 23 each of the past two weeks that left him vulnerable because at this stage, most of the remaining dancers are matching, if not exceeding that number.
Babyface just fell flat this week with his tango and he had by far the worst score from the judges, garnering just an 18. Nobody else had worse than a 21. That sealed his face in a double-elimination week.
Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez, a favorite to in it all, notched the first set of perfect scores of the season for a flawless jazz routine.
Georgia Tech grad and recently retired Detroit Lion Calvin Johnson is defying low expectations entering the competition and holding his own. Last week, he had the highest score of the week with 8s across the board. This week, his Charleston showed real energy and rhythm, getting him a solid 23 out of 30, with both Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli gifting him 8s while Julianne Hough opted for a 7.
His biggest competitors now are Indy driver James Hinchcliffe and "Little Women" reality star Terra Jole, a surprise so far.
The two most controversial names left - Amber Rose and Ryan Lochte - remain in the middle of the pack.
