According to the Atlanta Police Department report released Monday, a Loews hotel guest accused actor Wendell Pierce early Saturday morning of getting angry over a political discussion, pushing her, hitting her in the head and ripping her hoodie off.

Pierce told the police officer he was on the 23rd floor of the hotel at 3:30 a.m. Saturday when Maggie Elena Baca and two friends grabbed him and "attempted to pull him in [the hotel room] and he was trying to get away."

Both parties declined medical assistance.

The police officer chose to arrest Pierce for simple battery and released on $1,000 bond, according to Fulton County Jail.

The cops did not charge the couple or the third witness.

The original TMZ account sounded fairly close to the police report, though TMZ said the argument was over his support of Hillary Clinton and her support of Bernie Sanders.

Pierce didn't respond until late Monday night on Twitter and he acknowledged that what started as a "civil political discussion escalated to the level that it did."

I have not heard back from the woman or her boyfriend via their cel phones.
