Charles Mitchell, who hosted Kiss 104.1's evening "Slow Jamz" program for nine years, has been let go from the station.

Tony Kidd, vice president of radio programming for Cox Media Group, dubbed it a "staff rearrangement" and promised "a replacement is coming."

Mitchell, in an interview, said he is okay and looking for new work. "It's all good," he said. "I harbor no ill will. I thank them for the time I was there. I love Atlanta and hope to stay here."

Prior to Kiss, Mitchell worked in radio in Miami with Kidd and also got to spend several years at the legendary R&B station WBLS-FM in New York City.

"You've got to believe in yourself," Mitchell

, "and enjoy every second of your life. It's important to be around positive people; work hard and smart."

Kiss had a strong ratings month in April, finishing third overall with a 6.4 share,  its widest margin of victory over its most direct rival Majic 107.5/97.5 since last August. Majic dropped to a 3.9, its worst performance since June, 2010.

Kiss 104.1 and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution are both part of Cox Media Group.
