Olivia vs. Daddy Dearest.

The battle begins in earnest. She learned from the best. Can she actually take him down?

Here is a quick summary of what happened tonight:

Don't stop believin': Liv has to get evidence that her dad killed Harrison and the president's son, not Jake. In her gut, she believes Jake. At the same time, she needs to be with Fitz. Jake even gave her permission to choose the president over him. He accepted that.

Liv had already peeved off Daddy Dearest Rowan by convincing Fitz to keep Jake alive - even in SuperMax. Tom, the secret agent, is there, too.

She decides to go and loosen Tom's tongue. He had taken orders, not from Jake, but Rowan to kill the president's son. But he wouldn't change his story. Liv had a long game. She had warned him that Rowan doesn't like loose ends and would have him killed anyway.

She has Quinn bribe a guard to shiv Tom but make sure he survives. She then convinces Tom to change his story in the hospital room to the truth and gets the tape to Fitz. Fitz realizes that yes, Daddy Dearest tricked him, too. The end of the hour features the return of Fitz, Liv and Jake in the White House war room.

Hopelessly devoted to you: Fitz wants to know for sure there is hope with Liv. Of course there is! He even teases her with a little phone sex and she gets all hot and bothered. It's only a matter of time before those two are yet again in bed.

Cats in the cradle: Huck misses his son Javi and has been playing video games with him to stay connected since Javi's mom won't let him near Javi. They plan to meet an arcade. Huck can't do it. Later, Javi tracks him down at Pope & Associates. What is a kid as young as Javi just wandering around D.C. like that without mommy knowing? He's got all the makings to be a future Huck, eh?

Somebody's watching me: Huck and Quinn finally tell Liv about the fact she is being followed. She has no idea why but it's connected with that storyline three episodes ago concerning her friend being framed for murder. The father ends up killing himself instead of telling Quinn what is going on.

Beat it: A prostitute tapes a Senator in a diaper pooping. He resigns. Leo Bergen's client Chip is set to replace that Senator. But there's a problem: Chip is a wife beater and the wife is... Abby. Abby has been frantic and even more annoying as normal as the White House secretary. But she suddenly becomes vulnerable. She throws up after finding out Chip is even in the White House. She has Liv help her by bringing her replacement dresses. She also tells Liv about how awful Chip is.

Kiss: Liv decides to become the other candidate's campaign manager. Susan Ross is a professor who isn't terribly attractive. They give her a make over and do an effective ad using her cute daughter. But she is still going to lose. Leo Bergen likes Abby. She eventually tells him that Chip had beat her. (When he tries to "rekindle' their relationship, she puts a gun on him and threatens him.) So Leo leaks the fact the diaper video was a set up by Chip. Chip is gone. The payoff? Bourbon and a kiss between Abby and Leo. For some reason, Leo comes off as a much better pairing for Abby than wimpy David Rosen.

Father of mine: Rowan threatens his daughter for defying him. He's already tried to separate her from Fitz. But oddly, despite being Command, he couldn't just kill Jake in SuperMax. Yet Quinn could? Why? I don't get it at all.

Hollaback girl: Smelly Mellie is long gone. The commanding, invasive one is back, the one who covered for Fitz when he was down. She is angry he is still pining over Liv and didn't support her pain while she was in mourning. So if she wants to talk about South Angola and politics while working china patterns, she'll do it. And Fitz can't stop her.

Spies like us: Cyrus boy toy is a spy for Lizzie Bear. He is already suspicious so he tests boy toy by planting false info and sees if it comes out of Lizzie's mouth at any point. It doesn't. He feels safe - until he sees the First Lady say it. "I know all your weaknesses," Boy Toy says after handing him coffee with way too much sugar in it. "Yes you do," Cyrus says in bed, realizing he has been had. He let his libido get the best of him there. Nobody can be trusted in "Scandal" land!

Best quotes from the night

"You don't have a father. You have Command!" -Tom to Liv about Rowan.

"Against me, you will lose!" - Rowan to Liv.

"Press secretaries can't cry! That's like a rule." - Abby, making stuff up as she cries to Liv over seeing her abusive ex husband.

"I'll tell them you attacked me and you went crazy and I shot you in the face. Chalk it up to PTSD." - Abby to the ex husband. She ultimately doesn't shoot him but later told Liv that "it felt good."

"You can't stop what's coming. I'm sorry. I can't help you." - Mr. Winslow to Quinn before shooting himself, leaving a mystery to why his men were tracking Liv.

"You're Helen of Troy. The face that launched 1,000 ships. She didn't have a father either." - Tom, in awe of Liv.

"I could protect him from everyone but you," - Tom, to Liv about Fitz.

Best Shonda Rhimes monologue out of Mellie's mouth to Fitz:

"You hated drunk Mellie, cry baby Mellie and smelly Mellie. You had something about food. I think it was Chicken Fried Mellie. You wanted those Mellies gone. So they're gone. Here I am. I'm back, baby! The real Mellie! Remember how you hated the real Mellie? Be careful what you wish for. I've been holding up the walls of this house for 20 years. I never complained but when I fell down on the job for exactly two months, you ripped me to shreds as soon as it got difficult. I wont' soon forget that!"
