For the first time in University of Georgia's prestigious Peabody's 75-year history, the awards board has named 60 finalists instead of just announcing winners.

David Letterman and "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" will receive institutional awards.

11Alive received a nomination with a story about the 911 network

Entertainment and children’s/youth winners will be announced on NBC's “The Today Show” April 21, and documentary and educational winners via Facebook Live April 26.

Among the TV series finalists include Netflix's "Master of None" and "Marvel's Jessica Jones," FX's "Fargo," Amazon's "Catastrophe" and "Transparent," Lifetime's "Unreal,"  USA's "Mr. Robot," ABC's "Black-ish" and "Fresh Off the Boat," HBO's "The Leftovers" and "Veep" and CNN's coverage of guns in America.

Among notable documentaries: HBO's "Going Clear," "Night Will Fall" and "The Jinx," "Glen Campbell... I'll Be Here," which aired on CNN, and Netflix's "What Happened, Miss Simone?"

The 30 winners will be feted in New York City May 21. The event will air on Pivot June 6.

The awards don't get as much media attention as the Emmy's but are widely respected within the entertainment and news industries.
