Others on the task force include government heads, including the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, along with school district and national law enforcement officials.
They will help create recommendations to improve the state's response to severe weather events in the future.
Atlanta-based The Weather Channel will also work with the City of Atlanta to create best practices for emergency response during severe weather, Mayor Kasim Reed announced on Friday.
Channel 2 Action News and ajc.com are both part of Cox Media Group.
