Larry Wachs, on the Regular Guys Twitter page, teased over the weekend that a version of that iconic radio show is returning to the Atlanta airwaves next month.

In a text to me, he didn't provide more details in terms of who is on his team and where he's landing, saying that information is forthcoming.

The Regular Guys - first featuring Wachs and Eric Von Haessler and later added Tim Andrews and "Southside" Steve Rickman - was a popular show on 96rock and Rock 100.5 geared to guys from 1998 to 2014. But over that time, Wachs' relationship with the other members deteriorated and management splintered the group. Haessler was out in 2013. Wachs was cut in 2014 and Andrews lost his gig in 2015. Rickman is the only survivor at Rock 100.5, now on the morning show with Jason Bailey. Von Haessler now helms a daily show with Andrews on News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB.

Wachs, who has been off the FM airwaves since 2014, said in 2015 the Regular Guys were over for good.

“It was a legendary show for 20 years,” said Wachs at the time. “And it’s time to move forward and do new things.”

But as job prospects on the AM/FM dial failed to materialize (including an effort to get on NewsRadio 106.7), Wachs shifted gears and decided last year to bring back  the Regular Guys with a new cast. He said a revamped show would focus more on pop culture and sports, not politics.

That approach may have helped him land at his new home. He could possibly join his girlfriend Sandra Golden on a Dickey Broadcasting radio station. Dickey owns 680/93.7 The Fan where Golden co-hosts a show and two other AM sports stations WFOM/1230 and WIFN/1340, which run syndicated programming and are on modest signals. I heard he could end up on either 1230 or 1340, adding a local element to one of those stations. (Dickey didn't respond to a text seeking comment.)

Wachs has always owned the rights to the name Regular Guys.
