Former Atlantan and Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto has taken a leave of absence while he recuperates from open-heart surgery.

Cavuto, who spent five years of his childhood in Atlanta, had surgery on Monday.

In a statement, Fox said Cavuto “came through it with flying colors. Knowing Neil, he’ll be back as soon as he can, but he is slated to return to hosting his three programs on Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network later this year. Everyone here is wishing him a speedy recovery.”

He has been off air since the end of May. The 57-year-old anchor has battled multiple sclerosis since 1997. Years before, he had suffered and overcome cancer.

Cavuto has been with Fox News since 1996, when the network debuted.
