I've managed to avoid "Big Brother" for 10 seasons. But now that we have 21-year-old Atlanta bikini model Laura Crosby on the show, I felt an obligation.
Laura definitely left an impression last night during the first hour of season 11.
First words we see her say: “This sweet bitch is going to get exactly waht she wants.”
Then she adds, “Nine out of 10 girls hate me because of the way I look.”
She also notes that she isn’t into the “Vanilla Ice” white dudes who try to rap.
When she introduces herself, Kevin, the token gay guy, said to the camera, "Laura is boob city. I just vomited in my mouth."
Does Laura have a realistic shot at winning $500,000?
- Sure! There is clearly some brains behind the beauty.
- No way. That bikini can only take her so far.

Jeff said he couldn’t remember her name, just her physical attributes.
She’s part of the “Popular” crew as the 12 contestants are split into four high school cliques: the “Athletes,” the “Popular” kids, the “Offbeat” crew and the “Brains.”
Later, she competes in a competition clearly geared for the athletes: a wedgy contest. Each person is stuck in a big contraption where they have underwear wedged up their behind while keeping themselves aloft partly by holding a toilet seat. Once they let go of that seat, they’re out.
Laura actually did well, finishing fourth to last. But the athletes won. Their reward was getting muscle head Jessie back from season 10. So they have four people in their clique while the others have three. Plus, Jessie, as "Head of Household" can help decide who gets eliminated next week.
It’s hard to say if Laura has a proper strategy to win the $500,000. The fact she thinks females tend to dislike her does not help. And surely, the “strategy” she has stated of wearing her bikini a lot doesn’t seem like a particularly nuanced way to win over her buds in the house. (The Showtime “After Dark” portion of “Big Brother” will probably offer up plenty of Laura).
Ratings were consistent, finishing last night at about 6.7 million viewers, up from 6.4 million for the comparable debut in 2008.
