The annual Dragon*Con convention is less than a month away and the guest list is almost complete.
I readily admit I'm no sci-fi expert by any stretch, but the celebrity attendee list seem to be a bit softer on star wattage than in recent years.
Among the bigger names I see on the notables list include returnee Patrick Stewart ("Star Trek: The Next Generation," "X Men"), Walter Koenig (Chekhov on "Star Trek"), Mary McDonnell ("Battlestar Galactica," "Major Crimes"), Lou Ferrigno ("The Incredible Hulk"), Kristin Bauer ("True Blood"), Sean Maguire ("Once Upon a Time"), Julie Benz ("Angel," "Dexter"), Giancarlo Esposito ("Breaking Bad," "Revolution") and Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galactica," upcoming Syfy miniseries "Ascension").
UPDATE: 7/31/14: In the past week, they added Jeri Ryan ("Star Trek: Voyager," "Boston Public," "Body of Proof"). A couple of "The Outsiders" actors will be coming as well: Ralph Macchio ("The Karate Kid") and C. Thomas Howell ("The Amazing Spider-Man"). And I'd be remiss not to mention Martin Kove, who played the evil sensei in "The Karate Kid," and Cary Elwes from "The Princess Bride."
UPDATE: 8/1/14: Adam Baldwin ("Chuck," "The Last Ship") will return to Dragon*Con after attending last year.
In past years, Dragon*Con has tried to create mini reunions of non sci-fi shows such as "Dallas," "WKRP in Cincinnati" and "Happy Days." I'm not sure if that's the case this year. I see John Ratzenberger ("Cheers," "Toy Story") on the list but no other "Cheers" alums so I don't think that's the case.
There will be a reunion of three major stars of the early 1970s Saturday morning Sid and Marty Krofft live-action show "Land of the Lost": Wesley Eure, Kathy Coleman and Phillip Paley. Check out the rad 1970s special effects:
Curiously, I didn't see any big names from two big sci-fi-ish shows shot in Atlanta: "The Vampire Diaries" or "The Walking Dead" as well as "The Hunger Games," of which the sequels were largely shot in Atlanta.

Last year, I attended a panel that was supposed to feature several stars of "The Walking Dead" at DragonCon, but they ended up being no shows. (It was probably related to production issues.) I don't know if that had any impact on scheduling this year. "The Walking Dead" and "The Vampire Diaries" will still be in production during that time period, which may make commitments tougher to tie down.
The Walker Stalker convention comes back to Atlanta for the second time October 17-19 and has many of the "Walking Dead" actors tied down, but an organizer of that show said there are no exclusivity clauses in place. Actors could go to Dragon Con and Walker Stalker wouldn't object.
Other TV actors coming to Dragon Con include Katie Cassidy (CW's "Arrow"), Drew Roy (TNT's "Falling Skies"), Connor Jessup ("Falling Skies"), Emma Caulfield ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and several actors from the recently concluded Syfy series "Warehouse 13." In fact, Syfy is well represented with actors from shows such as "Being Human," "Lost Girl" and "Defiance" in the house.
