The Atlanta Humane Society has contributed a puppy to the annual Puppy Bowl, Animal Planet's facetious answer to the Super Bowl: an 18-week-old English Setter named Gordon.
Gordon will be on Team Fluff as one of 49 "starting" puppies.
You can meet Gordon live at Monday Night Brewing in Atlanta from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Super Bowl day, Sunday, February 7.
Gordon has already been adopted by a family from Grayson, an Atlanta Humane Society spokeswoman said.
She said he was brought to the humane society in September. Animal Planet approached the organization to audition an animal. "Gordon was a fan favorite among employees and volunteers so we sent his picture and he was drafted," she wrote in an email. "He went to New York City to compete and apparently did so well that he made it onto the starting lineup!"
Puppy Bowl airs from 3 to 5 p.m. and will repeat five more times after that. Last year's Puppy Bowl drew an impressive 10 million viewers in the face of competitors such as Fish Bowl on NatGeo Wild and Kitten Bowl on Hallmark.

Tommy Davidson of "In Living Color" fame is back in town tonight at the new Atlanta Comedy Theatre in Norcross for three shows: 8, 10 and midnight. (Buy tickets here.)
He's truly a stand-up workhorse, traveling 40 weeks a year. He's done comedy on the diving board of a pool, a building where a wall was gone and truck traffic going by and a smoking section wedged by the side of a cafeteria. But the Atlanta Comedy Theatre, which opened up in October, is far nicer than any of those locales.
"I'm going to make people laugh no matter where I am," Davidson said in a brief interview Wednesday after landing in Atlanta from Thailand and a two-week vacation. "And I always get good audiences in Atlanta."
And having seen him at the now defunct Funny Farm at its brief foray at Andretti Karting back in 2010, it's clear his shows are very loose.
"I kind of tailor every show based on the audience. I negotiate my path as I go," he said. And he has no qualms doing three shows in one night although the last show can be taxing given the level of alcohol consumed by the audience.
"I"m not a coal miner," he said. "This is a great job! The travel can be mundane at times but only when I've lost consciousness of comparison."
He is looking into doing his own sketch comedy show but not on a network like Fox.
"I'm done with networks," he said. "I want to do my own thing and see how it turns out."
