HBO, which just announced a stand-alone digital channel in 2015, is closing shop Sunday on "Boardwalk Empire" after five seasons. The drama was a solid performer but never reached the levels of popularity of other recent HBO dramas such as "True Blood" and "Game of Thrones."

Amazon on Friday at 12:01 a.m. also brings back the second season of John Goodman's 'Alpha House," a spoof about Washington politicians who live under one roof. The network does not release ratings but obviously the show did well enough to merit another round.

The long-running "Project Runway," now on Lifetime, turns the lights out for a 13th season Wednesday while TNT ends the fourth season of "Franklin & Bash" the same night. (No word if "Franklin & Bash" is coming back. It's probably a 50/50 shot at this point.)

Plus, Atlanta's TBS has picked up "American Dad" from Fox, which debuts on the network Monday night. This is the second time TBS has resurrected a show from another network. The last one was "Cougar Town" from ABC.

A new Atlanta-shot series "Constantine" debuts on Friday. Reviews have not been kind. I can't imagine this one will be around long.
