The broadcast networks still run something called a season, which runs from September through May. This gives them an opportunity to brag about who was No. 1 among 18-49 and No. 1 among all viewers, etc.
But who really cares anymore? Cable is now regularly beating broadcast TV in ratings. And TV shows debut all year around on all networks, broadcast and cable.
What do we have this week? Reality shows such as Fox's "Masterchef" Monday, NBC's "America's Got Talent" Tuesday, Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" Wednesday and "Food Network Star" on Sunday return.
Don Rickles is given a tribute on SpikeTV on Wednesday, the same night that Brian Williams interviews Edward Snowden on NBC.
For folks following shows that are shot in Atlanta, AMC's "Halt and Catch Fire" debuts Sunday, the same night as the "Real Housewives of Atlanta spinoff "Kandi's Wedding" on Bravo.
And several scripted shows debut including NBC's "Undateable" and "Crossbones" Thursday.
