TV best bets with 'American Horror Story,' 'Outlander,' Biggie Smalls, Chandra Levy

We are on the cusp of the traditional fall TV season and two big-time dramas are already back: FX's 'American Horror Story" Tuesday and "Outlander" on Starz Sunday.

Otherwise, a few series finish out the season such as FX's "Snowfall" Wednesday and HBO's "Insecure" Sunday.

A&E does a biopic on Biggie Smalls AKA Notorious B.I.G. on Monday, the same night TLC explores the Chandra Levy murder in 2001.

MONDAY

"America Ninja Warrior" 8 p.m. NBC — In Las Vegas, the season's top competitors tackle a four-stage course modeled after the Mount Midoriyama course in Japan.

"Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G." 8 p.m. A&E — Christopher "Biggie Smalls" Wallace is profiled, featuring interviews with his widow Faith Evans; his mother Voletta Wallace; and close friend James "Lil' Cease" Lloyd; as well as Sean Combs; Jay Z; and Nas.

"Bachelor in Paradise" 8 p.m. ABC — A new arrival talks to every woman in Paradise before one accepts his date card.

"My Baby is Gone!" 8 p.m. Lifetime — A pregnant woman quickly bonds with her pregnant neighbor, Kelly, but Kelly is faking it and plans to steal her baby.

"Chandra Levy: An American Murder Mystery" 8 p.m. TLC — The Chandra Levy case is examined. In 2001, the Washington, D.C., intern went missing; a year later her remains were discovered in Rock Creek Park.

"Preacher" 9 p.m. AMC— Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy hit a bump in the road and plan to leave New Orleans.a

"Midnight, Texas" 10 p.m. NBC — A bounty hunter from Joe's past arrives in Midnight to punish him for leaving the angelic fold.

"People of Earth" 10:30 p.m. TBS — The group asks Agent Foster for help with an investigation.

TUESDAY

"America's Got Talent" 8 p.m. NBC — The semifinals.

"The Haves and the Have Nots" 9 p.m. OWN — Jim works to mend fences for the greater good.

"Road to 9/11" 9 p.m. History — A profile of Osama bin Laden emerges as the CIA and the Clinton administration try to understand and react to a rise in terrorism.

"American Horror Story" 10 p.m. FX (seventh season debut) — A play off the Trump election - with scary clowns thrown in for good measure.

"Manhunt" 10 p.m. Discovery — Fitz tries to find a linguistic connection that will secure an arrest warrant while the FBI closes in on Ted's cabin in Montana

"The Murder of Laci Peterson10 p.m. A&E — In the case of the State vs. Scott Peterson, the prosecution asks for the death penalty for the murders of Laci and Conner Peterson, while the defense says Peterson is innocent.

"Shooter10 p.m. USA (second season finale) — Bob Lee tries to draw Solotov into the open, but realizes the Chechen holds the upper hand.

WEDNESDAY

"Masterchef" 8 p.m. Fox — The Top Seven create an Asian-inspired dish that centers around one of the most prominent utensils in culinary history, chopsticks.

"Salvation" 9 p.m. CBS — Grace and Harris must forge an alliance when their children's lives are in jeopardy.

"Suits" 9 p.m. USA — Mike proposes a power move to boost business.

"Marlon" 9:01 p.m. NBC — Marlon and Ashley have very different ways of coping when Zack needs surgery.

"Greenleaf" 10 p.m. OWN — A series of recurring nightmares leaves Grace unnerved.

"The Sinner" 10 p.m. USA — As Ambrose begins to waver, Cora convinces him to take his greatest risk yet for the case.

"Snowfall" 10 p.m. FX (first season finale) — Franklin solidifies his future; Teddy's hand is forced; and Lucia decides between business and family.

"Younger" 10 p.m. TV Land — Liza pursues a new relationship as Kelsey revisits an old one.

THURSDAY

"Battle of the Network Stars " 9 p.m. ABC (first season finale)  — Actors who portrayed troublemakers on TV battle TV lifeguards on the season finale. Troublemakers: Vivica A. Fox; Paul Johansson; John Barrowman; Julie Benz; Catherine Bach. Lifeguards: David Chokachi; Brande Roderick; Parker Stevenson; Nicole Eggert.

"Project Runway " 9 p.m. Lifetime — It's the Heidi Klum Sleepwear Challenge, and the designers are invited to a slumber party on the roof of the Empire State Building. Demi Lovato joins as guest judge. Last week, Atlanta's Kudzanai Karidza was eliminated but Kenya Freeman is doing well.

"Flip or Flop Atlanta " 9 p.m. HGTV — Ken and Anita buy a house sight unseen through an online auction and discover they got much more than they bargained for when the project turns into a complete rebuild.

"The Gong Show " 10 p.m. ABC (first season finale) — Isla Fisher, Will Arnett and Courteney Cox judge a man performing pizza dough acrobatics.

"Zoo " 10 p.m. CBS — The team is trapped inside a plane by toxic spores surrounding them.

FRIDAY

"One Mississipipi3:01 a.m. Amazon (season season debut)   Love is in the air in when we pick back up with Tig (Tig Notaro), her stepfather Bill (John Rothman) and her brother Remy (Noah Harpster), living together again in the family's home in Mississippi.

"EIF Presents: XQ Super School Live" 8 p.m. ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox — XQ Institute and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) present a one-hour LIVE special designed to rethink the future of American high schools, while exploring ways to prepare the nation's students for their future.

"Guy's Family Road Trip" 9 p.m. Food (first season finale)   Guy Fieri and his family visit Panini Pete in Fairhope, Alabama.

"Million Dollar Matchmaker10 p.m. WE   Shawn Isaac, a former politician and current rapper who judges women based on their resume, and '90s rap icon Monie Love who micromanages her men into man babies, arrive seeking Patti's guidance.

WEEKEND

"Halt and Catch Fire" 9 p.m. Saturday AMC — Cameron buys a plot of land.

"The Last Ship" 9 p.m. Sunday TNT — Nathan James is diverted from their mission when they receive a suspicious distress call from a fishing trawler.

"The Strain" 10 p.m. Sunday FX — An unexpected guest brings old conflicts to the surface, dividing our heroes.

"Ballers" 10:30 p.m. Sunday HBO — Will Spencer pull off a Vegas dynasty or lose everything?

"Insecure" 11 p.m. Sunday HBO (second season finale) — Season 2 concludes over the course of one pivotal month, as Issa, Molly and Lawrence face choices affecting their work and personal lives.
