Fox finally confirmed what we've known for weeks: the entire season 13 "American Idol" judges panel and host will be back for season 14.

For the loyalists we have on this blog, we mostly agree that this is the best judges' panel "Idol' has ever had in terms of quality and chemistry. Too bad they didn't put Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. together, say, three years ago. Now, hardly anybody cares. But the producers decided not to mess with a solid formula.

And Ryan Seacrest is back, of course. He, like many of us, is sticking with this show til the bitter end.

After the mere 2,000 showed up to Minneapolis auditions last week, New Orleans is next later this week.

Speaking of Seacrest, he has signed on to host CBS's live special "Fashion Rocks' to dovetail with his Macy's Fashion line, Ryan Seacrest Distinction collection, which will include tailored suits and accessories, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

I'm surprised it took him this long to get into clothing given his metrosexual ways.

What's notable is he is now connected with all four major networks. He works with NBCUniversal and E! for red-carpet events. He hosts the New Year's Rockin' Eve on ABC. And then there's "Idol" on Fox.  He is no longer doing "Today" show work. Something had to give!

CHART UPDATE

Phillip Phillips' "Raging Fire" has peaked at No. 7 on the Mediabase 24/7 AC charts and has fallen to 13. Daughtry's "Battleships" is stuck at 34.

Jennifer Hudson's "Walk It Out" is at 29 and not showing much upward momentum on the urban chart. It's at 24 on the urban AC chart.

The Miranda Lambert/Carrie Underwood duet "Somethin' Bad" is up to 26 on the country chart. Scotty McCreery's 'Feelin' It" is struggling at 43 but still gaining airplay.

If you give a maximum of $5,200 to Clay Aiken's long-shot North Carolina Congressional campaign, he will record a personal song for you, according to the News and Observer.

The personalized recording comes on an autographed CD with a handwritten note from Aiken, who finished runner-up on the reality TV show in 2003.

The "American Idol" live tour starts tonight at Binghamton. They stop July 24 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. How soft is demand this year? I was able to access SIXTH row seats on Ticketmaster at regular price just a few minutes ago. Yikes!
