ABC's "Resurrection," shot in Atlanta, will return for a second season.
The drama, about folks mysteriously returning from the dead (but not as zombies) in a small Missouri town, opened at an impressive 13.9 million viewers in March for a short eight-episode test run.
Then ratings fell - and fell and fell. By episode six, viewership was down to 7.46 million.
But numbers rebounded slightly for the final two episodes of season one, finishing this past Sunday just over 8 million.
DVR usage has added 3.5 to 4 million extra viewers each week, which may have helped sway ABC's decision making.
The network has also renewed "Castle," "Once Upon a Time," "The Goldbergs and "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Others that are coming back, to no one's surprise, are "Revenge," "Scandal," "Grey's Anatomy," "Modern Family" and "The Middle," along with reality shows "Dancing With the Stars," "Shark Tank," "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "The Bachelor."
"Trophy Wife," "Suburgatory," "Super Fun Night" and "Mixology" are dead.
This leaves a few ABC shows on the bubble, most notably "Nashville" and "Last Man Standing." There are rumors that "Nashville," due to reduced incentives from Tennessee, may end up shooting in Austin or Atlanta if it survives for a third season.
Over at the CW, which earlier this year gave Atlanta-based "The Originals" and "Vampire Diaries" new seasons, three shows this week were said to be staying ("Beauty and the Beast," "The 100" and 'Hart of Dixie") and three are out ("Carrie Diaries," "Star Crossed" and "Tomorrow People.")
CBS renewed almost everything a few weeks ago, leaving several shows up in the air as of Friday morning, most notably "The Mentalist" and "The Crazy Ones."
Fox Thursday officially killed "Dads," "Enlisted" and "Surviving Jack." While "American Dad" moves to TBS, the only show on the bubble there is "Family Guy." Shows that have already been renewed include "American Idol," "Bob's Burgers," "The Following," "Brooklyn Nine Nine," "New Girl," "The Simpsons," "Bones," "Glee" and "Sleepy Hollow."
NBC previously renewed six shows: "The Blacklist," "Parks & Recreation," "Law & Order: SVU," "Grimm," "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." On Friday, NBC renewed "About a Boy." Shows still awaiting their fate include "Parenthood" and "Dracula."
Big news Friday: "Community" is over after five seasons. Also, "Crisis and "Believe" are over after one season and "Revolution" after two.
