Days remaining in the 2017 legislative session: 38

It's Day 2 and that means it's time for "Eggs and Issues." The annual breakfast event at the Georgia World Congress Center – the work of the Georgia Chamber -- gives Gov. Nathan Deal and legislative leaders a chance to talk to the business community about their priorities for the session.

Deal’s office hasn’t said what he plans to talk about, but water policy and/or tax policy are likely topics. Sometimes the governor makes news at the event. Other times, not so much.

The House and Senate will convene briefly at 10 a.m. At 2 p.m., the joint House-Senate education committee will meet. Legislation detailing Deal’s newest effort to help failing schools is expected any time now. The word is the bill is still being “perfected.”
