Tip sheet: The abject failure of the gray fox lobby
The House and Senate will convene at 10 a.m. today.
The House will take up the first-grader approved H.B. 70, which designates the white-tail deer (sorry, gray fox) as the state mammal.
Also on the calendar is H.B. 121, which requires write-in candidates to authorize filings in their name and H.B. 177, which would require that school personnel who report child abuse be notified of the results of an investigation.
The House Rules Committee meets at 9 a.m. and could add H.B. 170, the transportation funding bill, to the calendar for Monday or Tuesday. Or not.
Among the bills the Senate will take up is S.B. 89, the "Digital Classroom Act," which would require instructional materials and content to be in digital or electronic format after a certain date.
The House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee will take up H.B. 1, the "Haleigh's Hope" medical marijuana bill; HB 71, which aims to make the deliberations of the state Pardons and Parole Board more transparent; and H.B. 103, or "Kelsey's law" which would prohibit anyone from identifying a minor in an obscene depiction.
The Senate Education and Youth Committee will take up S.B. 133 & S.R. 287 – Gov. Nathan Deal's school-rescue plans.
