Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick tweeted a photo with a Biblical verse reading a "man reaps what he sows" hours after at least 50 people were killed at a gay nightclub in Orlando in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

The tweet, which was soon deleted, was among a range of political reaction to the rampage at the Pulse nightclub early Sunday by a gunman wielding an assault-type rifle and a handgun. Investigators are looking into whether the gunman, identified by federal law enforcement officials as Omar Mateen, was tied to a terrorist organization.

He said in a statement later Sunday that it was a tweet his staff scheduled days ago, and that he and his aides "regret the unfortunate timing of these posts."

Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both expressed their sorrow as well.

And here was the tweet from Clinton (the H signature denotes that she, not her aides, wrote the message.)
