Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio has lined up a youngish crew of up-and-coming Georgia lawmakers ahead of his visit to Atlanta on Monday.
His endorsements include state Sen. P.K. Martin and state Reps. Geoff Duncan, Chuck Efstration, Buzz Brockway, Trey Kelley and Bert Reeves.
“There is no candidate that I trust more to keep our country safe in the 21st Century than Marco, and I am proud to be part of his Georgia leadership team," said Duncan, R-Cumming.
Martin, of Lawrenceville, said Rubio's performance in Wednesday's debate "proved once again that he’s ready to lead us into a New American Century.”
Rubio's visit will also be reinforced with an introductory TV spot from the Conservative Solutions Project, the super PAC dedicated to the U.S. senator from Florida, that takes aim at fellow Floridian Jeb Bush.
“If ever there has been an era in human history tailor-made for us as a people, it is the 21st century," the ad says. "What is standing in the way are outdated leaders that refuse to let go of the past.”
Bush, the ex-Florida governor who stumped in Athens on Saturday, talked of bringing a fresh "arms wide open" vision for the party that will help college graduates land jobs.
Both Floridians are trying to make headway in Georgia.
Bush's son, Jeb Bush Jr., will be in Atlanta on Wednesday for a college student meetup at Georgia State University. And we hear Rubio is considering making a gameday stop to Athens in two weeks for the epic Georgia-Alabama matchup.
