The latest Democratic attack on the GOP candidates for governor features their former Republican rivals in a starring role.
The Democratic Party of Georgia released a pair of minute-long attack ads Monday targeting Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and Secretary of State Brian Kemp that spotlight attacks from their GOP rivals.
The Cagle ad focuses on his use of taxpayer-funded flights to travel the state. The Kemp attack claims he is too “incompetent” to hold Georgia’s top job. Both videos focus on barbs leveled by state Sen. Hunter Hill and executive Clay Tippins in debates and interviews.
The two have traded similar accusations ahead of the July 24 runoff. Kemp scoffs at Cagle's criticism, calling his opponent a "career politician." And Cagle has defended his travel, which he has said is due to a "taxing" schedule from his statewide role.
The GOP nominee will face Democrat Stacey Abrams, the former House minority leader, in November.
The Georgia GOP has already begun to assail her financial record and her debt to the IRS. Party leaders also demanded she release her tax returns, though neither of the Republicans have yet to do so.
