Zac Brown returns to his roots with his contribution to Dave Cobb’s upcoming “Southern Family” album.

The Atlanta native recorded “Grandma’s Garden” in Nashville, the site of his Southern Ground recording studio. The string-laden ballad is reminiscent of Brown’s earlier work with his self-named band rather than the hip stew of sounds on their most recent release, “Jekyll + Hyde.”

Cobb, who was born in Savannah and went to school in Roswell, is best known as a producer (he shared in a couple of Chris Stapleton’s Grammy Awards last month). His upcoming album will feature an array of country stars including Miranda Lambert and Jason Isbell, all sharing stories about growing up in the South.

“Southern Family” is due March 18.

Check out Brown’s contribution.
