Last New Year's Eve, Widespread Panic decided to "shake things up" a bit and perform in Charlotte instead of making their usual end-of-year appearance in Atlanta.

Good news for local Panic fans that the boys will be back in town Dec. 29-31 for a stand at the Fox Theatre. Ticket details will be announced at a later date.

The Athens-based road warriors, who made a notable appearance at the CounterPoint Music and Arts Festival outside of Rome, Ga., in May, also announced their legendary Halloween shows.

The band will stay in road trip distance with shows Oct. 30-31 at U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, N.C. Those tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. July 31 via all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Last month, Widespread Panic announced it will release its 12th studio album, "Street Dogs," on Sept. 25.

The band recorded the album live in the studio – a first for the sextet – with drummer Duane Trucks, who has been performing live with them since late 2014, sitting in for the recording sessions.
