U2 skipped Atlanta on its "Joshua Tree Tour," but the Irish rock veterans managed just fine as the outing generated $316 million with 2.71 million tickets sold.
With the end of the 2017 touring cycle about to wrap, concert industry publication Pollstar has released the Top 20 acts on its Worldwide Top Tours Chart, and U2 tops the list.
There's a good chance the band will be back for the 2018 edition with another tour on the horizon – "Experience + Innocence" – and this one WILL play Atlanta on May 28.
Overall, the Top 20 tours grossed $2.66 billion, a record high and an increase of $264 million from 2016.
Following U2 was Guns N' Roses ( which played Atlanta in 2016 ) with $292.5 million grossed and 2.68 million tickets sold.

Coldplay: $238 million/2.45 million
Depeche Mode: $141 million/1.80 million
The Rolling Stones: $120 million/755,345
Many of the remaining acts that rounded out the Top 20 played Atlanta in 2017, including Roger Waters , Lady Gaga , Billy Joel and Ariana Grande .
