Good news for longtime Tom Petty fans – he and his ‘70s-era Southern rock band Mudcrutch are reuniting for a new album and tour.
The band will launch its first American tour May 26 in Denver and hit The Tabernacle at 8 p.m. June 2. Tickets for all shows on the itinerary will go on sale at 10 a.m. April 1. Every online ticket purchased will include a copy of the new album.
Tickets for the Atlanta date are $59.50-$109.50 and can be purchased via www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
Petty reunited with Mudcrutch, which formed in Gainesville, Fla., in 1970, in 2008 to record their self-titled debut. This second release, the aptly named “2,” will arrive May 20. Digital or vinyl pre-orders include a download of three songs from the album, including the lead single, “Trailer.”
Petty - who plays bass in the group -- wrote seven of the album's 11 songs, with the rest coming from Mike Campbell, Tom Leadon, Randall Marsh and Benmont Tench.
The history of Mudcrutch is brief. The band released one single, “Depot Street,” in 1974 and broke up a year later.
