The Smashing Pumpkins kick off their “In Plainsong” tour next week on the West Coast and now Atlanta is part of the itinerary.

The band – Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and Jeff Schroeder -- added a handful of dates to its slate of acoustic-electro shows, including 8 p.m. April 26 at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Liz Phair is the opening act for the two-month run, making it her first full tour of the U.S. in six years.

Tickets for the Atlanta concert – priced at $43.50-$83.50 -- will go on sale at 10 a.m. March 18 through the venue box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. Citi cardholders have access to a pre-sale currently underway (through 10 p.m. March 17) at www.citiprivatepass.com.

The Smashing Pumpkins performed at Lakewood Amphitheatre last summer on a bill with Marilyn Manson. The band is expected to return to the studio after this tour to work on the follow-up to its 2014 album, “Monuments to an Elegy.”
