The Eagles will perform in Atlanta as part of brief fall tour

BY MELISSA RUGGIERI/AJC Music Scene

It appears hell has frozen over again.

Despite Don Henley’s proclamation following the death of Glenn Frey in January 2016 that the Eagles were over , the band is following its pair of July festival performances with a four-date fall tour.

The band – Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit – will be joined by Vince Gill and Frey’s son Deacon, who played on the Classic East and West shows.

“An Evening with the Eagles” will visit Philips Arena Oct. 20. The concert series kicks off Oct. 17 in Greensboro, N.C., and will also hit Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 24 and Detroit on Oct. 27.

Tickets for the Atlanta performance are $49.50-$299.50 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 19 via www.livenation.com.

American Express cardholders will be able to purchase tickets from 10 a.m. Aug. 15 through 10 p.m. Aug. 18. A limited number of VIP ticket packages are also available at www.eagles.com.

Earlier this summer, Henley hinted that the Classic East and West concerts might not be the final performances for this version of the band and quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson when admitting his change of heart from his “Eagles are over” statement:  “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.”
