The MTV Video Music Awards in recent years have done an admirable job of making an award show about videos on a channel that rarely plays them somehow seem relevant.

The show can thank Miley Cyrus for her twerking fallout a couple of years ago, a scene that elevated the VMAs to Twitter-worthy status and made the show seem cool to a younger generation.

So the big plan for this year? Have Cyrus host, of course!

The show will air live at 9 p.m. Aug. 30 from Los Angeles.

Nominations arrived this morning, with Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Mark Ronson scoring the most Moonman nods.

Check out the full list of nominees and stay tuned for announcements regarding performances.
