Outkast’s Andre “3000” Benjamin is moving from the concert stage and the movie screen to the small screen.

According to the Hollywood Reporter , the lauded rapper/actor will make his debut as a TV series regular in the second season of ABC's critically acclaimed (and deservedly so) "American Crime."

The second installment of the show, which has been nominated for 10 Emmys, will retain some key cast members, including Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton and Regina King, but reset the story and characters.

The series created by John Ridley – who previously worked with Benjamin on the Jimi Hendrix biopic, "All is By My Side" – will take place in the Midwest and will explore gender issues, sexual orientation and sexual identity following an incident at a high school.

Atlanta's Benjamin is primed to play Michael Lacroix, a well-to-do architect married to King’s character who must defend their son after a scandal at an elite private school.

Ridley told THR that one reason he was “given the reins” to work on “American Crime” was due to Benjamin’s performance and their artistic collaboration on the Hendrix film.

The second season of the series is expected to premiere mid-season during the 2015-16 TV season.
