On Thursday, Azealia Banks tweeted that her joint tour with K. Michelle was off due to conflicting schedules. Banks commented that she received an email from Michelle’s team that the singer would be “unavailable this fall.”
Earlier today, Michelle confirmed that the tour was nixed – so no Oct. 2 show at Chastain Park Amphitheatre – and included a lengthy statement to explain the cancelation.
Michelle pointed to the filming of “numerous television shows” as well as working on her new album and readying her business as reasons and said, “I cannot overexert myself anymore than I already am.”
In an effort to thwart the rumor mill, she continued: “Before the negativity and assumptions from naysayers and media outlets begins, I'd like for everyone to know the truth.
First, there is absolutely no drama between me and Azealia. We have a mutual respect for each other as women and artists. I can't wait to get in the studio with her and for you all to hear what she's been working on. Secondly, it wasn't low ticket sales. Due to such an overwhelming response with this tour there have been conversations about adding a second show in various cities.”
Michelle added that she plans to see fans “at the top of next year” with a new album and a new tour.
The “Can’t Raise a Man” singer was part of the inaugural 2012 season of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” before leaving that installment after the second season to join “Love & Hip-Hop: New York.” Michelle played the Fox Theatre in March.
Refunds for the Chastain show can be obtained at point of purchase. Internet and phone orders will automatically be canceled and refunded.
